Stephen Bryen: The Hale Report Ep. 53

War and Peace in the 21st Century

My guest for the 53rd episode of The Hale Report is Dr. Stephen Bryen, now Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy and the Yorktown Institute. He is a highly respected security and defense analyst. He served as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Trade Security Policy and was the founder and first director of the Defense Technology Security Administration.

As the digital era began, he was this country’s early warning system for technology transfer and arms sales to hostile powers, and for his work he received the highest civilian honor from the Defense Department, the Distinguished Service Medal, and Distinguished Civilian Service Award, twice.

Given recent events in Moscow, Ukraine, Gaza, and the rest of the world, our podcast today could not be timelier. What are the new rules of engagement in an increasingly fragmented world?

Dr. Bryen provides both expertise and clarity as we stumble through the fog of war in so many places around the globe. The question is, will these regional conflicts end, or develop into something more widespread? He is not optimistic that we will escape unscathed.

To learn more, I highly recommend his free Substack newsletter, Weapons and Strategy.
