Panel Discussion — Weds, July 9th at 3:00 pm CDT
As the United States marks its 249th birthday, there are many reasons to celebrate. Job numbers remain strong despite headlines about layoffs and automation. Markets are booming—touching record highs in both traditional and new asset classes. Inflation seems under control, oil prices are falling, and the specter of nuclear escalation in Iran has been contained, at least for now. Even the US-China trade war appears to have cooled.
And this morning, President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill passed—giving him a major legislative win.
So what could possibly go wrong?
Although there are reasons for optimism, plenty. What signals should we be watching? We will discuss:
Why the US dollar is so weak
Will the new tax bill shrink the deficit—or explode it?
Are the deals that the US is making, from China to Iran, durable or ephemeral?
What the Fed might or might not do this year
Where do markets go from here?
